Futsal: My Point of View

Futsal or pronounced as fut saw’ in Portuguese is known not only for its fast tempo but also the technique possessed by the players. Futsal comes from combination of two Portueguese words “ futbol de salao” which if translated means “ hall football” Futsal nowadays has become a popular sport that is played worldwide and it can be played by all ages. The increasing number of futsal court in Malaysia also is a sign that Malaysians enjoy playing futsal. Even world class players such as Zinadine Zidane, Robin Van Persie, Cristiano Ronaldo, Ronaldinho, Pele, Lionel Messi and many more developed their skills by playing futsal. Futsal is a game played by two teams of five players and one will be the goalkeeper. Futsal allows unlimited substitutions which is totally different compared to normal football or soccer where maximum of 3 substitutions are allowed.

Types of Futsal pitch

A standard match consists of two equal periods of 20 minutes. The length of either half is extended to allow penalty kicks to be taken or a direct free kick to be taken against a team that has committed more than five fouls. The interval between the two halves cannot exceed 15 minutes.(www.wikipedia.com)

Unlike some other forms of indoor games, futsal is played on a hard court surface which limited by lines. Futsal is also played with a smaller ball with less bounce than a regular football. Playing futsal is really enjoyable as the speed of the game, which is faster due to the smaller pitch area compared to a standard football field. Thus it makes futsal player to act and think fast in order to score a goal. In addition, playing futsal also can improve the ball control. TFutsal is a great way for healthy socializing where coworkers , family member or friends can play futsal together thus creating a better bonding or “ ukhwah” among each other which is encouraged in Islam.
